Our sites will accommodate 8 campers each and have a fire ring, picnic table, and plenty of shade. Water stations will be available either at your site or very close by. Full-use restrooms with flush toilets are available throughout the campground and there are coin operated showers as well.
IMPORTANT: We highly-highly encourage car-pooling. There is a maximum of three vehicles allowed per site. Any additional vehicles will be required to park in a remote lot 1000 feet away, and will be charged $10 per day which will not be reimbursed. Our camping fees pay for one vehicle per site only. Vehicles #2 and #3 will be charged $10 each per day. We will reimburse you for parking if you present tags Sunday morning. Note: Funds used to reimburse are the same funds we will use to purchase Nation sweatshirts for our Princesses, so PLEASE carpool and help us keep our funds paying forward.
Be sure to bring a variety of clothes as March weather can range from sunny-skies in the 70’s during the day, to cold and damp evenings dipping down into the 40’s. Be sure to check Malibu weather conditions prior to packing.
Both Sunrise and Sunset will occur just around 7:00.
You are to provide all of your own beverages and meals. Be sure to check with your Chief or designated Tribe Leader for possible meal and duty assignments. Please remember: All YMCA events are drug and alcohol free!
Cell phones will have very limited, if any signal at Leo Carrillo. There are pay phones available.
Driving directions are easily viewed online or using your GPS. For the road down to the coast with the least amount of twists and turns we recommend Las Virgenes Rd. Or if you like the twisty’s we recommend Westlake Blvd./Decker Canyon Rd.

Weather
Arrival
We can arrive anytime after 2:00pm. Please check-in at the Ranger Station to receive your site assignment and pass. Let them know you are a member of the Princess Program and give your name and Tribe affiliation. Please have cash on-hand in case they want to collect parking fees. Please be aware that the park locks the entrance gate from 10:00pm – 7:00am and does not allow entry during this time.
Note: Our campsites are assigned at check-in and are first come, first served. In an attempt to get everyone together our Nation Chiefs with a few other Braves will be arriving around 9:00am to “Stake our Claims”. We have reserved 15 sites and are hoping to get them all together. We need a few more Braves to join us in the morning for scouting duties and tent set-up. Please contact the Nations Chiefs if you can participate. Option B is to get one or two tents from your Tribe in the hands of a scout so you can be set-up.
Friday Night
After arriving, checking-in, and pitching camp, our time is free to hike, stroll the beach, cook dinner, and have a campfire with your Tribe.
Saturday
After breakfast there will be a brief Pow-Wow at 8:30am for Chiefs or Designated Tribal Leaders at the Amphitheatre to review the day’s events. There will be both open and planned activity time throughout the day for hiking, kite-flying, beach-combing, a Polar-Bear swim, and more. At 12:00pm there will be a short presentation from Park Rangers at the Amphitheatre regarding Coastal Sea-Life, which will be followed by a guided beach-combing tour during low-tide.
Saturday Night
At 7:00pm in the parks Amphitheatre we will have our Nation Campfire Ceremony and present Tribe skits. If you have any battery powered lanterns, please bring them to help light the stage for our Ceremony and skits.
Sunday Morning
Following breakfast with your Tribe we will have a brief Nation Round-up at 9:00am to close our weekend together. After cleaning-up our campsites we can remain in camp until check-out at 12:00, or hit the road and take a leisurely drive down the coast towards home.
