Bits of Info
PALOMAR CHRISTIAN CONFERENCE CENTER

We will be staying in cabins and dormitory style rooms. The cabins and dorm rooms have bunk beds with mattresses along with many standard beds. Air mattresses are not necessary. Each cabin and room has a bathroom and is heated.
We are responsible for bringing our own housekeeping supplies: sleeping bags, towels, and pillows.
Please bring a variety of clothes because February weather could be anything from a pleasant sunny 50 degrees to rain, mud, and even (hopefully) snow. Also, no matter what the daytime temperature is, it will be very cold at night, possibly into the 20’s.
The camp provides 5 excellent meals: Friday evening dinner, 3 square on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast. There is also an excellent coffee shop open in the morning before breakfast both days, and a “Pie Café” available in the evenings from 9:00-11:00pm.
Bring some snack food for the girls. They will probably get hungry between the mess hall meals. Plan for late afternoon and before bed snacks for Saturday.
Bring beverages that you and your daughter like to drink between meals also. Water is key for helping adjust to the altitude. Please remember: All YMCA events are drug and alcohol free!
Be sure to check the weather and bring tire chains if there is any hint of snow. Even if you are driving a 4WD you will need to have chains in the car to get past the State Park Services checkpoint. Let the Rangers know you are attending an event at the Palomar Conference Center so that they don’t charge you for a State Park fee.
Cell phones have limited, if any signal at Palomar. There are pay phones available at the camp.
Be sure to follow the driving directions from Palomar’s website included here. Do not follow your GPS or use Google/Mapquest.
