Our sites will accommodate between 15 and 25 campers each and have a fire ring, picnic tables, and modest parking space. There is no running water available on-site, and the restrooms are large, permanent, clean pit toilets. Fresh (potable) water is available approximately two miles away at the park’s Ranger Station.
Car-pooling is encouraged as we have access to 84 parking spaces for 215 campers, and there is no remote parking to accommodate over-flow.
There is virtually no shade available during the day, only that which we bring. Easy-ups and sun-shades are highly recommended. Hats, sun-screen, and sun-glasses are absolutely essential.
Indian Cove campground is notoriously WINDY. A low-profile tent is always a great choice. Confirm that you have an adequate supply of guy-lines and stakes in your tent supplies. Confirm wind protection for eyes, arms, and legs also.
Rock climbing at Joshua Tree is famous for SHREDDING pants, shorts, shoes, and skin. Plan to wear clothing that you wouldn’t mind disposing of at the end of the weekend.
Bring a variety of clothes as April/May weather can range from sunny-skies in the 90’s during the day to clear and cool evenings dipping down into the 40’s. Check Joshua Tree weather conditions prior to packing. (weather link)
Sunrise is 6:00am, and Sunset is 7:30pm.
Each Tribe is responsible for providing all of their own beverages, meals, cooking equipment, and tableware. Be sure to check with your Chief or Designated Tribe Leader for meal and duty assignments. Please remember: All YMCA events are drug and alcohol free!
Cell phones will have very limited, if any signal at Joshua Tree
