Bits of Info

CAMP WHITTLE
39049 Rim of the World Dr, Fawnskin, CA 92333
909-866-3000

We will be staying in cabins and lodges (dormitory style rooms). The cabins sleep 12 and the dorm rooms sleep 24. Air mattresses are not necessary. Each cabin and room has a bathroom and is heated.

We are responsible for bringing our own housekeeping supplies: sleeping bags, towels, toiletries, pillows, extra blankets, etc.

Please bring a variety of clothes because Late January weather could be anything from a pleasant sunny 40 degrees to rain, mud, and snow. Also, no matter what the daytime temperature is, it will be very cold at night, possibly into the 20’s.

Dinning Hall - The camp provides 4 excellent meals, 3 squares on Saturday, and Sunday breakfast. The Dinning Hall seating is bench style instead of tables and chairs. Parents must bus their own tables after meals. This means returning all dishes, cups and utensils to the dishwashing area, wiping down own table, and removing own trash & food debris from the perimeter prior to leaving the dinning hall area. If necessary please vacuum after each meal and pick up large objects and place in trash.

Bring some snack food for the girls. They will probably get hungry between the mess hall meals. Plan for late afternoon and before bed snacks for Saturday.

Bring beverages that you and your daughter like to drink between meals also. Water is key for helping adjust to the altitude. Please remember: All YMCA events are drug and alcohol free!

Be sure to check the weather and bring tire chains as all vehicles will require them even if you are driving a 4WD. It is recommended to check the road conditions the night before and the day of the trip.

If you have problems on the road, please contact the Caltrans Highway information Network  by calling (800) 427-7623.

Cell phones may have limited, if any signal at Camp Whittle. There are pay phones available at the camp.
